Abstract
1,094,163. Two-for-one twisting apparatus. JAMES MACKIE & SONS Ltd. Sept. 22, 1964 [Sept. 26, 1963], No. 37975/63. Heading D1D. In a two-for-one twisting machine having a let-off or take-up package carried in a bracket 32 around which the yarn is ballooned by a flyer, the bracket being normally held against rotation by a magnet e.g. 76, on the bracket or on the machine-frame and a cooperating member, e.g. 78, which may also be a magnet, on the frame or bracket respectively, a movable member e.g. 80 is carried by the frame or the bracket on the opposite side of the balloon to a magnet and remote from the cooperating member, so that on rotation of the bracket in either direction, the member is subjected to attraction of the magnet and is caused by said attraction or centrifugally to move across the balloon path and sever the yarn, and to engage either the magnet or the frame as the case may be to stop the bracket rotating, the member, once it has been attracted by the magnet, remaining in operative position even if it is no longer attracted by the magnet. The member 80 is pivoted at 82 and remains in position owing to its weight or because a latch 102 falls down behind it when it is moved. In general form, the apparatus is as described in Specification 948845 (Division D1, D2) and includes a thread-detector 94 (not shown) acting on thread failure to close a contact of a stop motion.
