Abstract

690,583. Lubricating valves. AUDLEY ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Oct. 12, 1951 [Nov. 22, 1950], No. 28510/50. Class 135 In a valve construction. lubricant is conveyed to the distributing grooves formed on the surface or surfaces of the valve closure member through a valve operating spindle which is formed separate from but connected to the valve closure member means being provided after the grooves are filled to spill excess lubricant into a valve body chamber. As shown, a valve spindle a Fig. I having a reservoir d connected by a passage d<SP>1</SP> with a recess k, mounts hollow telescopic parts m, n urged apart by a spring o into engagement with the recess and a complementary recess l formed in the top of a rotary plug cock b. The recess l is connected by passages f with distributing grooves j. Should pressure in the grooves rise above that of the spring o the part n will be unseated to spill excess lubricant into a valve chamber above the cock. Alternatively a loose-ball check valve may be fitted in one of the passages f to spill the excess lubricant. The telescopic parts m and n and the spring o may be fitted to the hollow operating spindle of a rotary disc valve or a sliding gate valve to spill excess lubricant from the distributing grooves.
