Classes 64 (i) and 64 (iii) In a gas-heated continuous-flow water heater comprising a water-carrying pipe coil which extends along the wall of the flue of the heater and passes more than once in series through a fin assembly at the top of the flue, the parts 6, 7 of the pipe coil passing through the fin assembly 3 contain displacement members 12, 13 to increase the speed of water flow in those parts. The displacement members are rods removably supported at their ends in recesses in caps 8<SP>I</SP>, 9 connecting the ends of the tubes 6, 7, and also by a removable piece 11 by which one tube 7 is connected to the delivery pipe 10. The cap 9 has removable parts 14. The tubes 6, 7 may be tinned inside so that when they are heated until the tinning begins to melt scale is made easily removable.
