Abstract

881,104. Hot-water boilers. VORKAUF, H. Feb. 11, 1958, [Feb. 12, 1957], No. 4490/58. Class 64(1) Return water from a heating system under pump pressure passes from a distrubuter 13 through coils 12 heated by combustion gases, e.g. in a flue 11, and is directed, e.g. by tubes 15, into return tubes 9 to accelerate the thermo-siphonic flow in a radiant-heated section of the boiler. The main, radiant-heated part of the boiler is oil-fired from the front and has a non-heated frame (of distributers 2, 5, 7 collecting headers 3, 8 and rear and front return tubes 9, 10) which may support the boiler insulation and casing. Front and roof tubes 1, side tubes 6 and rear tubes 4 interconnect the distributers and headers. The extensions 15 of the ends of the collecting header 14 of the coils 12 each have an air-release hole at the top, Fig. 2 (not shown). Instead of the water passing from the extensions 15 arranged inside the return tubes 9 as in Fig. 1, it may pass directly into the tubes 9 around tubes 17, Fig. 3, which extend from the main collecting header 3 of the boiler into the return tubes. In boilers, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), in which the coils 12 are arranged above the radiant-heated section with the header 14 at the front of the boiler, tubes 15 extend down from the header 14 into the front return tubes 10 and there may also be tubes extending from the header 14 across the top of the boiler down into the rear return tubes 9. The ends of each tube 15 may be tapered to a nozzle, Fig. 6 (not shown), and an adjacent throat may be formed in the return tube.
