Abstract
1291572 Heating water CURWEN & NEWBERY Ltd 25 March 1970 [2 April 1969] 17356/69 Heading F4A In a water heater a heating fluid is first passed through heating elements within the water space, then through an external connection, and finally through a surrounding jacket. The embodiment shown, Fig. 1, is a calorifier in which the water to be heated passes through cylinder 10 via inlet 25 and outlet 26. High pressure steam enters pipe 11 via header 13 and leaves via header 14 in the end cap 15. After passing through steam trap 16 the steam enters jacketing space 20 and is discharged through outlet 23 and steam trap 24. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), for domestic hot water supply the cylinder is vertical and contains any conventional heating element externally connected in series with the outer heating jacket and a hot water boiler.
