Abstract
1,224,854. Steam generators. MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO K.K., and MITSUBISHI PETROCHEMICAL CO. Ltd. 23 May, 1969 [25 May, 1968], No. 26573/69. Heading F4A. A heat exchanger has an enclosed liquid section 1, one or more sleeve tubes 12 communicating with the liquid section, a high temperature gas tube 16 extending through the or each sleeve tube and through the liquid section, and conduit means 14 connecting the liquid section and the or each sleeve tube outside the liquid section to enable circulation from the liquid section through each sleeve tube. Gas tubes 16, disposed within a drum 1, are helically coiled about a downcomer 5 having slits 8 through which water, supplied through an inlet 3, passes to fill the liquid section, the gas tubes 16 emerging from a shoulder of the drum 1 through sleeve members 17 whereby hot gas supplied at an inlet 10 heats the water and passes out of the drum to an outlet chamber 18. The conduit means 14 has connecting tubes 15 leading to headers 13 communicating with the lower ends of the sleeve tubes 12, the resulting circulation helping to cool the hot gases to minimize thermal stresses. Steam is collected in a dome 2 having a water separator 21, and passes out through an outlet 22. The tubes 16 may be aligned in the drum 1 by a support or metal fitting 19.
