Abstract

688,689. Collectors. PRUDEN, D. C. Dec. 7, 1950 [Dec. 7, 1949], No. 31444/49. Class 38 (i). A bus-bar duct system comprises a duct 3 having a longitudinal aperture 6 on one side, bus-bars arranged on either side of the aperture and insulated from the duct and a collector having contacts slidable on the bus-bars and carrying a roller or rollers engaging the duct for earthing the collector. The aperture 6 is contained in a groove 8 and is off-set therein to polarize the collector, the channels 9 formed by the groove and side walls of the duct containing two triangular-shaped bus-bars 13, 14. The collector, Figs. 3 and 4, comprises a plate 18 carrying triangular contacts 19 spring-urged into engagement with the bus-bars. Supported by the plate on spring supports 18a and exteriorly of the duct is a frame 21 carrying rollers 22 which have enlarged portions 23 engaging in the groove 8 in the duct to guide the collector. Rectangular bus-bars may be provided engaged by U-shaped contacts on the collector. The latter may carry a three-pin socket for making connection to apparatus and may incorporate fuses. Junction boxes may be provided in the duct into which other ducts running at right angles may be plugged. More than two busbars may be provided.
