Abstract

986,021. Supporting bus - bars. W. NICH. OLLS. Oct. 29, 1963 [Oct. 30, l962], No. 40926/62. Heading H2C. Pairs of bus-bars, 10-13, are supported between slots 20 in pairs of transverse insulating bars 16. The insulating bars are of syntheticresin bonded paper and are clamped together by bolts 19. The ends of the insulating bars rest in apertures 23 in brackets 17 into which project ears which locate the rear strip accurately but allow the front strip to be positioned according to the size of the bus-bar. Alternatively, the front strip may be located accurately so that, if bars of two different sizes are used, their front faces will lie in a common plane. The entire assembly is mounted in a trunking 14 and supported by brackets 22 which are bolted to screwthreads on the internal bracket 17. The lid 27 of the trunking is bolted to lugs 28 on the same brackets. Instead of providing brackets 17, the sides of the trunking may be apertured to carry the insulating strip ends. A construction of bracket is described (Fig. 2), not shown, in which flanges are formed around the periphery of aperture 23. These flanges grip the insulating strip and stop the bus-bar system rattling.
