Abstract
680,830. Two-part couplings. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. (General Electric Co.). Feb. 10, 1950, No. 3481/50. Class 38 (i). A sectionalising feedunit for a bus-bar duct system comprises a tubular metal duct-section 14 on which is mounted a metal box 19 housing terminal blocks 23, 24, the terminals of which are connected to the busbars in the right- and lefthand sides of the duct respectively, an insulating plate being interposed between the two sets of bus-bars. In the case of a centre feed-unit, a single terminal block is mounted in the box and connected to bus-bars extending continuously through the duct-section. The feed-unit shown in Fig. 5 is for use at the end of a duct. A duct-section 38 carrying bus-bars 40 is brazed into a wall of a box 37 and the bus-bars connected to terminals 44 on a block 43 in said box. The slot at the base of the duct-section may be closed by a dust cap 46. The duct-section is connected to the main duct by double-ended jacks 42 fitting into the ends of the bus-bars which are tubular. Similar jacks are also used in the preceding embodiments. Fig. 9 shows another feed-unit for use at the end of a duct in which the terminal box 65 has a plate 66 riveted thereto, said plate having a cross-piece 67 with clamping screws 68 engaging the top of a duct section and a foot 70 with a cross-piece 71 adapted to be clamped to the base of the duct section by a screw 72. The plate is apertured for the passage of connections from the bus-bars to the box.
