In a combustion chamber for prime movers such as gas turbines or jet propulsion engines which is constructed from cylindrical sheet metal sections, the adjacent ends of a pair of sections e, f are of substantially equal diameters and are interconnected by a transversely corrugated ring a mounted in contact with either the outer or the inner circumferential surfaces of both of the sections and secured thereto by welding or otherwise. The ring may be formed from a single strip of metal having apertures b and bent to a ring slope, or may be formed from a pair of rings parallel with each other and interconnected by transverse pieces, the corrugations d being formed in the ring adjacent to the apertures. In the case of a combustion chamber having an air-jacketed flame tube constructed in accordance with the invention, air may be admitted to the interior of the flame tube through orifices h and annular passages g formed between adjacent ends of the sections.
