733,485. Generating combustion products under pressure. LUCAS (INDUSTRIES), Ltd., J. Aug. 10, 1953 [May 16, 1952], No. 12405/52. Class 51 (1). In a combustion chamber for a gas turbine or jet propulsion engine, the end wall of the flame tube comprises at least in part ari imbricated construction formed from overlapping plates spaced apart to form air passages between them. In the annular combustion chamber shown in Figs. 1 and 3, an annular arrangement of overlapping plates f provides air passages g between the plates. The rear edges of the plates fare attached, as by spot-welding, to the corrugated edges of adjacent rings h. The rings h overlap to provide air passages i; they may be replaced by rings of overlapping plates similar to the plates f. Figs. 5 and 6 show a cylindrical combustion chamber in which each overlapping plate f has a tongue j by which it is secured, as by spotwelding, to the adjacent part of the end wall of the flame tube. An air nozzle k may be arranged within the plates f.
