Abstract
686,874. Lamp-holders. STAGNARO, D. Dec. 15, 1950, No. 30619/50. Class 38 (i). In a bayonet-type lamp-holder which avoids the use of spring-plunger contacts, the bayonet slots 8 are formed in a separate skirt 6 which is slidable, against the action of a spring 5, in an outer body 1 housing the fixed insulating base for the holder contacts 13, 14. The skirt has an external operating ring 7 connected to it by radial parts which slide in L-shaped grooves 35 in the body 1 so that, when a lamp is to be inserted, the ring is pulled down and given a slight turn to retain it. After insertion, the ring is turned backwards and the spring 5 retracts the skirt and lamp to complete the contact. In a modification, Fig. 15, the bayonet slots have a ramp 53 which, on insertion of the lamp with its contacts bearing on the pins 59, cams the skirt 60 away from the fixed body 37 until the pins enter the ends 55 of the slots. The skirt has projections engaging slots in the body 37 to prevent its rotation with respect to the latter, and stops 55 to limit its travel under the action of a spring 39, Fig. 10 (not shown).
