686,565. Machines for depositing chocolate &c. on belts. AKTIESELSKABET TOMS LABORATORIUM. Sept. 27, 1950 [Sept. 27, 1949], No. 23656/50. Class 87 (ii). Chocolate is formed into shapes, e.g. twists or rings, by extruding it from one or more nozzles 11 onto an endless belt 1. The nozzle 11 is fixed to a container 9 mounted on a carrier 8 which moves transversely on rails 6 and longitudinally on rails 3. Chocolate is extruded through the nozzle by a piston pump 10. The belt 1 passes over a table 12 which is adjustable vertically to vary the distance between the nozzle and the belt. Cams 13, 14, 15, 16 move the nozzle longitudinally and transversely, control the pump 10, and adjust the height of the table 12, respectively. Cams 14, 15, 16 may operate either through flexible hydraulic mechanisms, as shown, or through mechanical connections. Alternatively all the connections may be hydraulic, so that the position of the cam shaft 17 is independent of the position of the conveyer. When several nozzles are used, each nozzle has its own pump having its own cam or two or more pumps may be operated simultaneously by one cam. The conveyer belt may run continuously or intermittently, and if intermittently it is arranged to be stationary during extrusion.
