Abstract
434,373. Endless-belt conveyers. VICARS, Ltd., T. & T., and NAYLOR, J. F., Earlestown, Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire. May 10, 1934, No. 14087. [Class 78 (i)] [See also Group V] A fripping receiving conveyer 1 moving continuously in one direction transfers flat objects 6 on to a delivery conveyer 10 moving intermittently or continuously in an opposite direction by means of an intermediate fripping conveyer 8 which moves alternately forward and backward. The contiguous ends of the conveyers 1 and 8 are carried by a reciprocating block 5, and the fripping end of the conveyer 8 is raised or lowered by a cam &c. which moves the fripping knife 11 in vertical guides. When the conveyers 1 and 8 are moving in the same direction and their fripping ends moving together in a reverse direction, the knife 11 is raised and the objects 6 are transferred from conveyer 1 to conveyer 8. When the fripping ends begin to return, the direction of motion of the conveyer 8 is reversed and the knife 11 lowered, thus depositing the objects on the conveyer 10. The conveyer 10 may have pans to receive the objects, which may be deposited in spaced groups by charges in the relative speeds of conveyers 8 and 10. Weighted pulleys 4 and 9 tension the conveyers 1 and 8. In a modification, the knife 11 is not vertically movable, and is positioned so that the fripping end of the conveyer 8 is slightly below that of the conveyer 1.
