Abstract

553,635. Conveyers. VICARS, Ltd., T. & T., and CROSLAND, E. M. Nov. 24, 1941, No. 15085. [Class 78 (i)] Two substantially parallel band conveyers 4, 9 moving in the same or in opposite directions are connected by an angularly disposed conveyer 5 so that elongated articles, such as rows of biscuits 1, 2 arranged transversely across the conveyer 4 are transferred firstly to the conveyer 5 and then to the conveyer 9 in such a way that their orientation and also their relative spacing remain the same. The actual spacing after each transference will depend on the relative speeds of the conveyers. To facilitate transfer between the conveyers so that the articles remain face upward an inclined plate or bar 6 receives the oncoming edge of each article as it leaves the upper conveyer and a rotary brush may bear on the tail edge of the article till it drops.
