685,836. Milling screw-threads; chucks. PUREFOY, J. BAGWELL-, and COOPER, W. S. May 17, 1950 [May 16, 1949], No. 13002/49. Class 83 (iii). An attachment for milling threads on a tapered surface of a work-piece by means of a rotatable cutter X comprises a member C slidably mounted in a fixed housing A and having a bore inclined to the axis of the machine at an angle corresponding to the taper of the work-piece, a sleeve G being rotatably carried in the member C and constrained to move axially therewith and being provided with a collet R and nut S for holding the work-piece. The sleeve G is connected to the driving-shaft M by means of a universal joint N which is carried in a sleeve O so as to be free to slide axially with respect to the driving shaft.
