685,718. Regulating fluid flow. BOULTON PAUL AIRCRAFT, Ltd. May 15, 1951 [May 12, 1950], No. 11904/50. Class 135. A liquid flow restrictor, e.g. for the hydraulic system of an aircraft retractable undercarriage, comprises a body 1 with line connections 7, 8 and a partition 17 having a conical bore 18, and a ported plunger 19 slidable in the body and having a conical part 21 extending through the bore and abutting a boss 16 to leave a clearance 22 between the part and bore to restrict flow in the direction of arrow A. Flow in the opposite direction moves the plunger against a light spring 23 and is substantially unrestricted. The boss 16 is formed on an end-plate 6 attached to the body by screws 4, and shims 24 may be placed between the plate and body to vary the clearance 22. Alternatively, a screw adjustment of the boss may be provided.
