Abstract

1,140,785. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. SPERRY RAND CORP. June 30, 1967 [July 29, 1966], No. 30259/67. Heading G3P. An electro-hydraulic servovalve has a flapper 62 pivoted at 55 to one leg 56 of an angle bracket 42 mounted in housing 12 and retained by the threaded end 44 of nozzle fitting 34. The flapper is loaded by compression spring 60 and tension spring 72 and these springs provide a net bias urging the flapper against the nozzle. When the constant pressure supply is connected to port 22, the flapper is forced away from the nozzle to abut stop 68. The nozzle forms the core of electromagnet 30 and energization of the latter, regardless of the polarity of the current, causes attraction of the flapper towards the nozzle to restrict flow therefrom. The valve may control pressure applied to, or the flow of liquid to or from a hydraulic load connected to port 24.
