Abstract
1306786 Fluid-pressure servomotor systems SULZER BROS Ltd 12 May 1971 [21 May 1970 6 Jan 1971] 14465/71 Heading G3P A by-pass valve 5 in a steam generator normally controlled by a fluid-pressure signal 18 applied to a control valve 15 is moved to open position by a spring 10 when opposite ends of a cylinder 2 are inter-connected through a valve 33 controlled by a solenoid-operated pilot valve 40 which receives its supply either from a pump 21 or from the upper end of the cylinder 2, the supply being taken automatically from whichever source is at the higher pressure through one of a pair of non-return valves 50, 52. Failure of the supply from the pump 21 cannot, therefore, prevent the system responding to energization of the pilot valve solenoid by a safety signal. Further, similarly controlled, valves 33<SP>1</SP>, 33<SP>11</SP> are arranged in parallel with the valve 33. An alternative arrangement is described in which the construction of the valves 33 and 40 is modified and non-return valves 32, 32<SP>1</SP> and 32<SP>11</SP> are replaced by a single non-return valve between the valve 33 and the space 2b in the cylinder.
