Abstract

684,518. Valve seats. HOLM, C. B. Sept. 6, 1950, No. 21977/50. Class 135. In a diaphragmactuated valve, the valve seat is rigidly connected to a resilient wall of the valve housing, and a cupshaped washer presses against the resilient wall and is acted upon by a screw device so that the position of the valve seat relative to the obturating member can be adjusted. In an embodiment, a needle valve 10 carried by a diaphragm 1 is controlled by a pressure which enters at 6 and acts on the upper side of the diaphragm. The lower side of the latter is vented to atmosphere and is loaded by a spring 12. The seat 9 of the valve is carried by a tubular member 8 rigidly attached to the resilient upper wall 14 of the valve casing. A unit 13 screws on to the outside of the member 8 and a conical washer 15 is interposed between the nut and the wall 14. Adjustment of the valve seat relative to the valve and the diaphragm is effected by rotating nut 13.
