632,872. Pressure-relieving devices for fluids. BRITISH GENERATORS, Ltd., SALES, S. A., and SALES, S. F. Aug. 6, 1947, No. 21410. [Class 135] A gas-pressure relieving device, particularly for acetylene cylinders, comprises a thin rupturable diaphragm 4, gripped between parts 2 and 3 and covering an outlet 1, and backed, when distended, by a support element 7 held in an aperture 6 against the gas pressure by two diametrically disposed, spring-loaded pillars 9, so that when the desired maximum pressure is exceeded, the element disengages the pillars and is forced from the aperture so that the diaphragm ruptures and relieves the pressure. An indicator plate 19, visible through a window 32 in the cover 30, is maintained in a raised position by a lever 26 which engages a finger 29 on the element. When the element is displaced, the lever 26 pivots on a pin 24 and the plate drops. The spring-pressure on the pillars 9 may be varied by screws or by moving a cross-bar 12.
