617,540. Supports for adjusting clutches. DENT, J. W. Oct. 5, 1946, Nos. 29744/46 and 26725/47. [Class 61 (ii)] A device for adjusting or overhauling clutches comprises a platform which may be formed of three bowed metal strips 22 secured together by rivets 26 to form a three-armed frame open at the centre to which platform may be clamped by bolts 46 &c., the face 47 of a clutch casing 37 enabling the clutch fingers 33 to be adjusted by the use of a stepped gauge 51 supported on a plate 20 welded to the platform, the nuts 38 on the finger supports being rotated to set the finger ends 41 level with one or other of the steps 51 according to the make of clutch; packing 45 under the spring pressure plate 32 takes the position normally occupied by the clutch plate fully let in, For dismantling the clutch an additional three-arm bridge 61, Fig. 6, welded to a disc 60 is adapted to span the clutch casing 37 supported with interposed packing 65 on the platform and the pressure of the clutch springs 34 on the pressure plate 32 is relieved by a headed pressure screw 66 working in a tapped hole in the plate 20 whereupon the nuts 38 may be readily removed.
