A chimney or ventilating-shaft top comprises an outer tube A fitted internally with an upright conical baffle C, the base of which is spaced from the inner surface of the tube A and is of greater diameter than an inner tube G spaced a short distance below and attached to the baffle by metal strips H. The lower end of the tube G is shaped to fit the shaft to which the top is applied and the upper and lower ends of the outer tube A are formed with outwardly flared serrations B.
