Abstract

213,090. Strudwick, W. C. Feb. 28, 1923. Chimney and ventilating- shaft tops.-A chimney &c. top is provided with means for admitting air to increase the updraught and comprises a base portion 1, tapering upwardly from square to circular cross-section, a truncated conical member 3, fitting closely around the upper end of the portion 1 and formed with straight radial ribs 5, and a cone 6 which carries a tubular extension 8 and is secured by straps to the member 3. The ribs 5, which are formed by folding outwardly portions of the metal of the member 3, diminish in width towards the upper end and the cone 6 has a greater slope than that of the edges of the ribs 5 so that it clears these edges.
