Abstract
700,357. Hollow-ware. HOLROYD, H. W. Aug. 31, 1951 [Sept, 7, 1950], No. 22031/50. Class 66. A pouring lip for a container such as a saucepan, comprises a roll-over portion 1 such that the under surface of the lip is of concave form and the extremity of the lip at its mid-width is downwardly inclined at an angle B so that the forces of capillary attraction and gravity oppose one another and the probability of spilling and dripping is reduced. The angle B is preferably of the order of 2 degrees or 3 degrees up to 7 degrees although it may be as high as 20 degrees. The distance A by which the lip extends from the container should not be less than “ in. and is preferably between # in. and ¢ in. The lip extends for about 3in. around the circumference of the container which has a diameter of approximately 6in. and thus subtends an angle of about 55 degrees at the centre of the container.
