Abstract
Highly acid-resistant objects, especially chemical appartus, consist wholly or in part of alloys containing 10-65 per cent palladium and 15-50 per cent silver, the balance being gold in an amount of 20-65 per cent with or without 0.05-5 per cent in all of one or more of zinc, cadmium, magnesium, tin, copper, germanium, indium, manganese, iron, cobalt and nickel. Spinning nozzles, formed of an alloy of 30 per cent gold, 30 per cent palladium, 37 per cent silver, 1.5 per cent zinc and 1.5 per cent tin may be homogenized for an hour at 1000 DEG C and tempered for half an hour at 500 DEG C. Objects may be formed wholly of, or clad with the alloy or a silver or silver-coated base may have gold and palladium electrolytically deposited thereon in such proportions that by means of a subsequent heat treatment an alloy of the above composition is formed.
