Abstract

682,301. Valves: regulating. MONO-CAM, Ltd. Dec. 15, 1947 [Dec. 18, 1946], No. 37301/46. Class 7 (vi) [Also in Group XXVIII] A fuel pump and distributer comprises a casing 1 having pumping chambers 2 which communicate by annular grooves 23 with common supply and delivery channels 28. 30 respectively by means of spring pressed ball valves 27. 29. The channel 30 communicates with a chamber 40 formed between an extension 1b of the casing and a cover 34, through a valve 53. The cover 34 is formed with a number of radial bores 41 containing sleeves 42 held in position by means of caps 43 and containing valves 44 which close on the sleeves 42 by means of springs 45. The valve stems 44a bear on end plates 46 connected by bellows 47 to the sleeves 42. Push rods 52 bear on the end plates 46 and on a cam sleeve 36 having a triangular cam 39 thereon, slideably splined to an extension 4a of the shaft 4 and adj u stable longitudinally by means of a lever 37. The chamber 40 communicates, when the valves 44 are opened, with distribution pipe connections X leading to the fuel injectors. The lever 37 may be interconnected with the arm 33 controlling the pump delivery pressure, or alternatively the arm 33 may be controlled by means responsive to the air intake manifold pressure.
