Abstract

680,049. Tube joints. STEEL SCAFFOLDING CO., Ltd. July 5, 1951 [July 5, 1950], No. 16841/50. Class 99 (i). In a device for connecting tubes, particularly tubular scaffolding, of the kind in which a longitudinally divided twopart spigot 2, 3 is expanded to grip the tubes, the expanding means comprises a bolt having a head 10 and a shank 12 screwing into a hole 7 in the spigot part 2, the end 11 of the shank which screws into the spigot part 3 having a thread of opposite hand and a reduced diameter, so that it may pass through the hole 7 when the parts are assembled. A pin 13 keeps the spigot parts in alignment and limits its contraction, the end of the bolt being flush with the exterior of the part 3 in the limiting position.
