Abstract
679,545. Shuttle stop motion for looms. ETABLISSEMENTS FUMAT. Feb. 8, 1949 [Feb. 11, 1948; Feb. 1, 1949], Nos. 3476/49 and 3477/49. Class 142(i) In a loom provided with a clutch for forward and reverse operation means are provided operative upon faulty boxing of the shuttle to effect braking and simultaneously to move the clutch to reverse position; when the loom has reversed to bring the batten into its extreme position, the clutch is moved to neutral position so that the loom is stopped. A member 41 on the shuttle box is moved by the incoming shuttle to move the end 48 of a bell-crank lever 45 out of the path of a lever 55. Upon faulty boxing of the shuttle, the end 48 strikes the lever 55 to move a control rod 58 in the direction of the arrow 63. The control rod 58, by means of a lever 88 and cam 85 secured thereto, releases a lever 82 so that it can be moved by a spring 77 to apply a brake band 64 to a drum 72 on the loom crankshaft. Simultaneously the lever 88 engages an arm 95 to move the clutch 96 to reverse position. During reverse movement of the loom a cam 98 engages a projection 102 on the control rod 58 to move the rod 58 to a neutral position and to move the clutch to its non-operative position. The control rod may, alternatively, be actuated electrically, the member 41 forming part of an electric switch.
