668,070. Shuttle stop-motions for looms. BLUMENTHALL & CO., Inc., S. July 14,. 1948, No. 18949/48. Class 142(i) A shuttle stop-motion comprises a member 21 which is moved electrically into the path of a fixed dagger 9 on the slay 1, and a relay which stops the motor if the shuttle fails to box correctly. Each shutle box has a switch which is opened when the shuttle enters the box. The switch is in a circuit which controls the current to the motor, and a further switch, operated by the picking mechanism, completes the circuit through each shuttle box alternately. When a shuttle fails to box, the shuttle box switch remains closed, the circuit is thereby completed and a solenoid is energized and stops the motor. In a modification in which the motor is controlled by a thermionic valve, if the shuttle fails to box the valve grid is shortcircuited and the tube fires causing the relay to stop the motor:
