Abstract
677,723. Stop-motions for looms. PLATT BROS. & CO., Ltd., and BASSINDALE, I. B. Feb. 16, 1950 [Jan. 25, 1949; Dec. 31, 1949], Nos. 1964/49 and 33452/49. Class 142(i) In a spool Axminster carpet loom, as described in Specification 608,168, an electric stop-motion is brought into operation upon failure of either of the selvage yarns. Failure of a selvage yarn allows the shuttle to travel further round its race and engage a terminal 15 thereby completing an electric circuit which stops the loom and lights a signal lamp. To prevent restarting of the loom before a shuttle has been replenished, an arm 14, which carries the terminal 15 and is pivoted at 12, is moved until its end 13a engages a terminal 19 to maintain the circuit closed. In an alternative construction, the button 15 for each shuttle race may be carried by a finger mounted on a pillar positioned beside the races. The starting handle is knocked-off by a spring- loaded member normally held stationary by a solenoid.
