Abstract

689,741. Stop motion for Axminster looms. PLATT BROS., & CO., Ltd. Sept. 12, 1950 [Sept. 15, 1949], No. 23787/49. Class 142(i) If the knife fails to cut all the tuft yarns when a tube frame is about to be replaced on the carrier chains, the loom is declutched and braked and the motor switched off as described in Specification 684,604. A cradle 14 is swung rearwards by a cam-actuated lever 23 pushing a roller 19 as a tube frame 37 descends to the fell, and is allowed to swing forwards after the yarns have been cut; if a yarn Y is not cut, a bar 17 encounters it, thereby stopping the cradle, so that contacts 30, 32 in the stop-motion circuit remain closed; the circuit then operates when a timing switch 26 is closed by a striker 25 on the lever 23.
