Abstract

741,610. Pile fabric looms; shedding mechanism. RICHARDS, D. H. Feb. 5, 1954[Feb. 5, 1953], No. 3337/53. Class 142 (2). To enable stripes of patterning to be woven in a Wilton or Brussels carpet, the pile yarn heald frame 1 has front and rear bars 5, 6 carrying groups of healds 7a, 7b threaded with different colours of yarn, one being the same as that threaded through the main healds 2. Either bar 5 or 6 can be coupled to the heald frame by rocking a shaft 10 carrying forwardly and rearwardly directed hooks 12, 13, the selection being effected when the heald frame is down; the selected healds 7a or 7b then move with the heald frame and the others remain down, the brackets 4 which guide the rods 5, 6 having vertical slots for this purpose. The hooks 12, 13 are urged in one direction by a spring and operated in the other direction by an electromagnet 15 energized by a ratchetdriven contact disc.
