548,496. Warp-tensioning in looms. F.N.F., Ltd., BOLDEN, G. L., and MORRISON, J. L. M. July 12, 1941. No. 8828. [Class 142 (ii)] [Also in Group VIII] A warp-tensioning bar for a knitting-machine or weaving loom comprises a resilient cantilever portion 2 extending between a comparatively rigid support 1 and a light smooth rail 4 over which the threads pass. The portion 2 may consist of elastic sheet metal having the smooth rail extending along one edge or, as shown, a separate strip may be secured to the sheet metal. Alternatively, the rail 4 may be carried by a row of separate cantilever springs. The portion 2 may be more flexible at its ends than at the middle so that the threads may be less tensioned at the selvedges. A comb 10 may be carried by the bar for spacing the threads.
