Abstract

1,105,978. Ribbon looms. UNITED ELASTIC CORPORATION. 18 June. 1965 [29 June, 1964], No. 25913/65. Heading D1E. In a shuttleless loom for weaving two ribbons, each weft inserting needle 3L, 3R loops its weft round a finger 10 to form a fringe, the fingers being slowly moved towards and away from the edges of the ribbons to vary the length of the fringe in scalloped fashion. A single cam 18 operates both fingers through arms 20L, 20R and links 19L, 19R. The fingers are also lifted to cast off the loops before beat up by a cam (not visible) on a shaft 14L which acts on an arm 12 carrying both fingers. The inner edges of the ribbons have straight selvedges formed by knitting needles 9L, 9R.
