Abstract

539,928. Shuttleless looms; stopmotions. BADDELEY, C. H. Dec. 18, 1940, No. 17857. [Classes 142 (i) and 142 (ii)] In a shuttleless loom the weft 18 on its way to the needle 6 from the cheese &c. 19 passes through a series of tensioning eyelets in a plate 27, through an eyelet in a weight 31 sliding on wires 29 to take up slack, and through eyelets 13 on a lever 11, 10 pivoted on a bracket 8 carried by the slay 1. The weft normally holds the lever 11, 10 in the position shown when a cam plate 14 on the lever will engage the tail of the hammer 16 and lift the catch 17 on the stop lever 5 out of the path of the lever 4. Should the weft fail or break the weighted end 10 of the lever lifts the cam 14 and allows the lever 4 to operate the stop lever 5.
