Abstract

594,196. Weft feeter stop-motions. BLACKBURN LOOM & WEAVING MACHINERY MAKING CO., Ltd., and BARKER, W. H. June 28, 1945, No. 16478. [Class 142 (iii)] Nearly complete exhaustion of the weft allows a pointed feeler 44 to penetrate, during beat up, into a slot 22 in the pirn whereupon a catch 38 is engaged by an oscillating hammer 33 so that the lever 35 carrying it disengages the starting handle 16 from its retaining notch. The lever 35 is pivoted on a lever 15 which stops the loom under the control of a normal weft fork, and the hammer 33 is actuated by the cam which operates the weft fork motion. The shuttle spindle has a projection engaging a slot in the end of the pirn to locate it with the slot 22 facing the slot in the shuttle. According to the Provisional Specification, stoppage of the loom by the lever 15 lets back the take up motion but stoppage by the lever 35 does not.
