Abstract
676,695. Weft feeler mechanism for looms. FISCHER, AKT.-GES., G. May 16, 1949 [Aug. 30, 1948], No. 12989/49. Class 142(iii) When a pirn in a shuttle is sufficiently exhausted, a weft feeler moves a pawl against spring pressure into engagement with a notch on a reciprocating member to stop the loom or initiate shuttle or pirn change. A feeler 3, pivoted on a pin 1 rocks a pawl 15 by means of a stop 16 on a rod 14. A spring 17 presses the pawl against the stop. When the pirn 9 becomes exhausted, the pawl engages the tip 24 of a notch on a reciprocating member 22, and due to the angle of the face 23 and of the corresponding face of the pawl, the pawl moves against the pressure of the spring 17 into full engagement with the member 22. The member 22 causes the pawl 15 to displace a slide 20 in guides 21 to stop the loom or initiate weft replenishment. In another embodiment, the pawl 15 may be pivoted to a stationary part of the loom and engagement of the pawl with a notch on an oscillating rod causes the rod to be displaced to stop the loom or initiate weft replenishment.
