Abstract
713,486. Weft feelers for looms. METERS, Ltd. March 16, 1953 [Feb. 22, 1952], No. 4701/52. Class 142(2) A device for feeling the weft in a shuttle at the beat-up comprises a casing 1, two serrated feelers 2, 3 pivoted at 4, 5 and influenced by a tension spring 7, a spring-urged detent member 8 and a member 10 which, when moved, stops the loom motor or initiates weft replenishment. When the feelers 2, 3 engage an exhausted pirn, they slide apart, Fig. 2, and the end 11 of the detent 8 enters a gap between the ends 6a of the feelers, and the end 12 of the detent engages the member 10. The forward movement of the 'slay displaces the casing 1 and causes the member 10 to move and stop the loom or initiate weft replenishment. The casing is provided with studs engaging slots in a fixed plate and is returned by a spring when the slay swings back. A transparent, or metal, cover may be fitted to the casing. The feelers may be made of 'synthetic plastic.
