Abstract

686,995. Looms with automatic weft replenishment. ASHTON BROS. & CO. (HOLDINGS), Ltd., and BARKER W. Feb. 19, 1951 [Nov. 30, 1949], No. 30683/49. Class 142(iii) A Lancashire loom of the overpick type is fitted with an underpick motion at one side to accommodate automatic weft replenishing mechanism and has a rotary magazine at the same side. The original overpick mechanism and the underpick mechanism are both operated from the half-speed shaft. A weft feeler 23 is provided which, by a link 24 and lever 24a, lifts a member 28 when weft replenishment is necessary so that a pin 33 on the weft fork hammer 34 engages a notch 28a on the member 28 and moves the member 28 whereby a shaft 31 is turned and weft replenishment initiated. The weft replenishing mechanism may be operated by the weft feeler or by the weft fork. Devices for holding and cutting the weft ends are provided.
