[Class 142 (iii)] A pick-and-pick weft mixing loom, having a pair of shuttle boxes 20, 21 at the weft-replenishing end of the lay L operating in a four-pick sequence to place the top box 20 in inactive position for the first two picks of each sequence so that when exhausted it may be replenished, is provided with a gang GL of shuttle boxes at the other end of the lay, some of which boxes 10, 11 are provided for the ground weft shuttles and one or more of which boxes 12, 13 can be used as a home box or boxes for a distinctive weft shuttle or shuttles. The gang GL is moved so that the ground weft shuttles can be picked in a given order for weft mixing, and a home box can be brought into active position on a pick immediately preceding the first pick of the four pick sequence. When two boxes are provided in the gang GL, these boxes may also have a four-pick sequence, out of step with the boxes 20, 21 by one pick. The movement of the gang GL, the boxes 20, 21 and the harness H is controlled by a pattern chain 29. A selector as described in Specification 558,966 is provided for determining from which stack of a reservoir a fresh bobbin shall be supplied, and this selector is rendered inoperative when a distinctive weft shuttle is active, so that a bobbin of the distinctive weft shall be supplied. The bobbin transfer means and the weft detector and the revoking mechanism are also as described in Specification 558,966. U.S.A. Specification 1,030,748 also is referred to.
