Abstract

502,323. Looms with automatic weft replenishment. TRIGGS, W. W. (Crompton & Knowles Loom Works) July 15, 1938, No. 21023. [Class 142 (iii)] Oval bobbins B are supported in a rotary magazine in such a manner that the major transverse axis of the bobbin about to be transferred is so inclined that, allowing for the angle through which the transferrer 40 moves during transfer, the bobbin enters the shuttle with the axis referred to horizontal. The bobbins have rounded heads engaging sockets 24, and flattened tips 17 engaging pockets 50 in spring controlled tip supports 32. Each pocket has a rib 51 with an inclined upper part 52, an inwardly inclined vertical surface 53 and a curved front wall 65. A spoon 6 1 with a flat under surface 62 is attached by a shank to the transferrer and engages the flat weft area of the bobbin during, transfer.
