Abstract

677,937. Making bolts &c. NATIONAL MACHINERY CO. April 20, 1950 [May 3, 1949], No. 9720/50. Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv). Extruding; forging.-Apparatus for producing cap screws, bolts or other socketed articles from rod stock, comprises a die D<SP>4</SP>, a sleeve S<SP>1</SP> adapted to move towards the die to surround a portion of a headed blank 04 therein, a punch P<SP>1</SP> axially movable within the sleeve to pierce a portion of the head and to cause the metal thereof to extrude rearwardly along the wall of the sleeve and means 94 to retain the blank within the die while the sleeve is withdrawn. The machine and its operation is as described in Specification 677,936.
