Abstract
1,015,484. Extruding; forging. G. PEDDINGHAUS, [trading as CARL DAN PEDDINGHAUS KOMM.-GES.]. July 24, 1962 [Dec. 9, 1961], No. 28488/62. Heading B3H and B3P. In the production by drop forging of an article from a pre-formed blank having one or more limbs extending from a body portion, the pre-formed blank is made by pressing a billet within a die cavity 6 which forms the body portion, and each limb is formed by extrusion through an orifice 10 in the die wall. A steel billet heated to 1100-1200‹ C. is pressed within the cavity 6 by a ram 1 having steps 14 to resist backward extrusion of metal through the gap 12. The die is in two parts 2, 3 clamped together by screws 4. Hard metal half-rings 10 are used to form the die orifices.
