1346439 Making rod or wire products OLIN CORP 8 June 1971 [29 July 1970] 31202/73 Divided out of 1346438 Heading B3A [Also in Division C7] A composite comprises a rod or wire of pure metal of the lanthanide series clad with copper or copper alloy. In preferred embodiments, the composite is formed of misch-metal rod or wire encased in a copper or copper-alloy tube, the cladding being accomplished by inserting the misch-metal in the copper tube and drawing the assembly through a drawing die. The composite is particularly used for introducing the lanthanide into copper melts to act as a deoxidant.
