Abstract
1420463 Drawing IMPERIAL METAL INDUSTRIES (KYNOCH) Ltd 4 July 1974 [10 July 1973] 32789/73 Heading B3P An angled metal strip section is formed by cold drawing strip metal material to form a bend along its length, annealing the strip material and further cold drawing the material to reduce the radius of the bend. A flat strip of metal comprising the metal or alloy of Ti, Zr, Hf, Nb or Ta is coated with an anti-galling agent, e.g. Cu, and is cold drawn through three dies to produce a L or top hat section. The metal is annealed between the drawing stages, e.g. at 850‹ C. for titanium alloy. Each drawing die comprises a split die 11, 12 supported in a bolster having two halves 13, 14 resiliently held together by spring loaded bolts 15. The shape of the die orifice 17 is progressively varied along its length towards the desired section.
