Abstract
677,101. Liquid-pressure engines; hydraulic couplings. WOYDT, E. March 22, 1950 [June 18, 1949], No. 7136/50. Class 69 (ii) [Also in Group XXVIII] In a motor having cylinders 13 disposed radially in a block 6 and pistons 12 reciprocated by an eccentric 2 rotatably mounted on a shaft 4 which is rigidly connected to the block by a disc-shaped member 5 disposed laterally of the pistons, the inlet and exhaust passages 21 to and from the cylinders are disposed in the discshaped member. The eccentric 2 is carried by a shaft 3 and has a guide ring 8 and rollers 27 are placed between the ends of the pistons and surfaces on the ring 8 ; rings 9, 10 engage flanges 11 on the pistons. A pin 7 extends from the disc 5 and has supply and exhaust passages 14, 25 which communicate with the surface of pin 4 through ports 15, 24 and grooves 16, 23. The bore of the eccentric has grooves 17 separated by abutments 18 and operate as a valve to connect alternately the passages 21 to the passages 14, 25. Either shaft 3 or shaft 4 may be used as the drive shaft. In a modified form as shown in Fig. 5, the supply to and exhaust from the cylinders 111 is controlled by slide valves 133 which are actuated by an eccentric 140 mounted on the rotor 104 and connected to the casing 101 by a bolt 145 adjustable in a slot. The supply and exhaust passages 136, 137 communicate to the exterior through a fitting 158. Two superposed eccentrics 106, 107 are mounted on the shaft 103 and are adjustable by worms 108, 109. The heads 113 of the pistons are connected to rings 162 and carry rocking members 114 having swivelling shoes 117 that engage the eccentric 106 and also carry rollers 119 guided in radial slots. Fig. 9 shows a hydraulic coupling comprising a pump 13 constructed as shown in Fig. 1 combined with a motor. The pump and motor cylinders are arranged in the block 6 that is connected by the disc 5 to the pins 4, 31. The motor has an eccentric 38 adjusted by a worm 33 and a superposed eccentric 39 connected to its adjusting worm 36 through an Oldham coupling 37.
