A pressure - regulating valve having a valve closure member H coacting with an inlet nozzle F directed away from a spring-loaded diaphragm B which actuates the valve member in response to variations in outlet pressure has a lostmotion connection between the diaphragm and the valve member comprising a flange M<SP>1</SP> carried by the diaphragm and engaging a wider groove L in a yoke J which carries the valve member. The arrangement is such that, in the event of a failure of supply pressure, downward movement of the diaphragm in response to a fall of outlet pressure will not open the valve.
