Abstract

322,993. Young, T. N. June 11, 1929. Pressure - reducing valves. - In a pressure-governing valve for controlling, for instance, the water supply from a main to a house system the valve member b is controlled by differential diaphragms, one c being exposed only to the outlet pressure whilst the other d is subjected only to inlet pressure, the area of that on the low pressure side being greater than the other. The valve member b is provided with an axial passage b<2> to admit pressure from the outlet to the chamber containing the larger diaphragm. A manually operable screwed spindle k is provided so that the valve member may be secured in either the closed or open position. In a modified form, the spindle may be omitted, the valve operating automatically only. The valve is also applicable to the control of air, steam, gases, and other fluids.
