676,319. Delivering measured volumes of liquid. BUHLER, GEB. Jan. 3. 1950 [Jan. 5, 1949], No. 147/50. Class 106(v) An apparatus for wetting grain by dispensing variable measured volumes of liquid through the agency of the pressure prevailing in the liquid supply means, with a piston movable in a cylinder, means for varying the stroke of said piston from the outside, and a reversing-valve means for alternately supplying the said liquid to one and the other side of said piston rerespectively, the arrangement being such that the pressure of the liquid displaces th said piston and thus also the liquid present on the other side thereof into the pipe leading to the point of consumption, is characterized in that the reversing-valve means is controlled by a grain-balance. The stroke of a piston 2 in a cylinder 1 is varied by an adjustable table, top 4, and a reversing valve 13, 14 is actuated by means 17 controlled by the grain balance, liquid being delivered from the cylinder 1 through an air vessel 21 to an atomizer 25. In a modification, Fig. 3, the reversing- valve system comprises spring-urged poppet valves 27-30 actuated by a lever 31 controlled by the grain balance.
